Janjaweed Blind Man in El-Fasher for his marriage to arab woman

On the evening of March 22, 2007, five janjaweed militia members forced their way into the home of Ahmed Abdallah and his wife,  in the Um-shidera district of El-Fasher.  Mr. Abdallah, age 43, is from the Kenin tribe of Darfur.  His wife is of Arab descent.  The assailants reportedly said to Abdallah, “You are a slave, how can you marry your master?  You must be punished.”

The men then held Abdallah down, pierced his eyes and pulled them out.

The incident was reported by a Damanga correspondent who interviewed Abdallah and his wife after the attack.  According to the victims, one of the janjaweed assailants is a relative of Mr. Abdallah’s wife.
