Damanga joined with other groups to protest at the Sudanese Embassy

Yesterday, the Washington Post quoted Special Envoy for Sudan Scott Gration describing his strategy for engaging the government of Sudan: "We've got to think about giving out cookies. Kids, countries, they react to gold stars, smiley faces, handshakes, agreements, talk."
Gold stars and smiley faces?! No way this is what President Obama had in mind when he promised active leadership in supporting peace in Sudan.
Time to let Gration and the Obama administration know we're actually paying attention...and we don't like what we see.
How? Meet us at Dupont Circle at 3 pm to deliver a gold star from STAND to the Sudanese Embassy. Chapters all over the country will be adding short messages to the gold star for Sudan and we'll video tape the event to post online. We can't keep giving Sudan what they want (whether it be gold stars or trade) without seeing real progress on the ground. Let's show the world how misguided Gration's policy really is.
