Another Man Killed Inside Kernang Refugee Camp

A recent incident has underscored the precariousness of life inside Darfur’s refugees camps. Damanga’s correspondents have reported that on March 16, 2007, seven members of the janjaweed militia attacked and killed Mohamed Nour Jadid inside the Kerenang refugee camp. The attack took place at approximately 8 PM. The assailants beat Mr. Jadid and then shot and killed him. The witnesses who reported the attack said that they were too afraid to intervene.

Kernang, also known as Kringing, is a large refugee camp, with an estimated population of 20,000 refugees, located approximately 5 kilometers east of Al-Geneina.
